Moonstone & Mayhem (“M&M,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our store or place an order, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this in plain English on purpose.

1. Who we are

Moonstone & Mayhem is a small, family-run online shop based in Ohio, United States, selling mystery-scoop bead merchandise and related items. Our online store is hosted by Shopify. You can reach us any time at shopmoonstonemayhem@gmail.com.

2. Information you give us

When you shop with us, you provide information so we can process and ship your order, including:

Contact & shipping details — name, shipping and billing address, email address, and phone number.
Order details — the products you buy, add-ons selected, and order history.
Your preferences — the likes, dislikes, favorite colors, jewelry preference, vibe, and any exclusions you type into the “make it yours” fields on a product. We use these only to help fulfill your Mystery Scoop.
Optional video display name — if you purchase the Video Add-On, you may give us a first name, nickname, or initials to show or say in the video. This is optional; leave it blank to stay anonymous. Anything you put here may appear publicly in our videos (see our Store Policies & Terms for the video media release).
Messages — anything you send us by email, contact form, or social media.

3. Payment information

We do not collect or store your full credit- or debit-card numbers. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider through Shopify’s checkout. Those providers handle your card data under their own security standards; we only receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the card type and last four digits.

4. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our store automatically collects some technical information when you browse, through cookies and similar technologies:

Device and browser type, IP address, and general location.
Pages viewed, items clicked, referring site, and how you move through the store.
A cart/session identifier so your cart works correctly.

This is handled through Shopify’s built-in analytics and cookies. Essential cookies are needed for the store and checkout to function; other cookies help us understand traffic and improve the shop.

5. Advertising & social media (Meta / Facebook)

We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To measure and improve those ads, we may use the Meta Pixel and similar advertising tools, which use cookies to understand which ads led to a visit or purchase and to show relevant ads to people like you. These tools may share limited event information (such as “viewed a product” or “completed a purchase”) with Meta. We do not share your preference fields or order contents for advertising. You can manage ad personalization in your Facebook/Instagram settings and through your browser or device controls.

6. How we use your information

To process, curate, pack, ship, and confirm your orders.
To honor your stated preferences and exclusions where reasonably possible.
To communicate with you about an order, question, or issue.
To create packing/scoop videos when you purchase the Video Add-On.
To send marketing messages (email or SMS) only if you opt in—you can unsubscribe any time.
To run and measure our advertising.
To detect fraud, keep the store secure, and meet legal and tax obligations.

7. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the shop, and only as needed:

Shopify — our store platform, hosting, and checkout.
Payment processors — to charge your payment method securely.
Shipping carriers (such as USPS) — to deliver your order.
Email/SMS and analytics tools — to send messages you opted into and understand store traffic.
Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — for advertising as described above.
Authorities — if required by law, or to protect our rights and safety.

8. Your video & public content

If you buy the Video Add-On, the video we create may be posted publicly on our social-media and marketing channels. We will not publish your full billing name or contact details. Any display name you choose to provide, and the general contents of your order shown in the video, may be visible to the public. See the media release in our Store Policies & Terms.

9. Your choices & rights

You can:

Unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the link in an email or by replying STOP to a text.
Ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing shopmoonstonemayhem@gmail.com. We may need to keep some records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Control cookies through your browser settings.

Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. We honor applicable privacy rights—just contact us and we’ll help.

10. Data retention

We keep order and contact information for as long as needed to fulfill orders, provide support, and meet legal, accounting, and tax requirements. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

11. Security

We rely on Shopify’s secure, PCI-compliant platform and encrypted checkout to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work with reputable providers and take reasonable measures to safeguard your data.

12. Children’s privacy

Our store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Some products are not suitable for children and may require adult supervision (see our Store Policies & Terms). If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our business, tools, or legal requirements change. The version in effect when you place an order applies to that order. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we make changes.
